Ho Chi Minh City, September 25, 2025 – Marico SEA and DUYTAN Recycling officially signed a cooperation agreement in the field of plastic packaging collection and recycling, under the framework of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program.
This partnership marks an important step in the joint efforts of both companies to enhance responsibility in collecting and recycling post-consumer packaging, thereby reducing waste management pressures and contributing to the development of a circular economy in Vietnam.
For Marico SEA, this collaboration is part of its global sustainable development strategy. The company has been actively implementing programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, minimize single-use plastics, carry out reforestation projects at Ben En and Xuan Lien National Parks, and conduct community clean-up campaigns. The cooperation on packaging recycling, contributing to closing the loop of product life cycles, represents a significant advancement that reflects Marico’s comprehensive approach to addressing climate change.
In Vietnam, EPR is one of the key policy tools to encourage businesses to enhance environmental responsibility, meet international standards, and expand participation in global value chains. According to the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 and Decree 08/2022/ND-CP, from January 1, 2024, manufacturers and importers of various products — including plastic packaging — are required to fulfill recycling obligations for post-consumer products. This is considered a major step forward in linking environmental responsibility with business operations.
According to the plan, in 2025 alone, the two parties aim to collect and recycle 190 tons of plastic, equivalent to approximately 14.6 million plastic bottles. This milestone not only demonstrates the strong commitment of Marico SEA and DUYTAN Recycling in building an effective packaging recycling model but also seeks to broaden positive impacts through communication efforts that raise public awareness of environmental protection.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Vivek Jain, Managing Director of Marico SEA, emphasized:
“At Marico SEA, Responsible Growth is not only a core value but also the foundation of all our business activities. Partnering with DUYTAN Recycling is a testament to our long-term ESG commitments, especially in addressing climate change. Beyond plastic packaging, we are also committed to recycling other materials such as paper, cartons, and glass bottles. By integrating circular economy principles into packaging life cycles, we aim not only to minimize environmental impacts but also to support Vietnam’s Net Zero 2050 goal.”
As one of the pioneers in high-tech plastic recycling, DUYTAN Recycling views the circular economy as a long-term strategic direction. The company has been investing heavily in modern technology and internationally standardized processes to maximize recycling efficiency while creating sustainable value for both the environment and the community.
Mr. Le Anh, Director of Sustainability at DUYTAN Recycling, shared:
“This cooperation is a clear demonstration of the synergy between a global FMCG company and a domestic recycling enterprise. Together with Marico SEA, we are gradually turning plastic waste into valuable resources, accompanying Vietnam on its journey towards a green and circular economy.”
