April 22, 2025 – DUYTAN Recycling (DTR) and Unilever Vietnam (UVN) held a ceremony to summarize two years of collaboration and announce their cooperation goals for 2025, marking a significant step forward in promoting a circular economy for the recycled plastics industry in Vietnam. The event was attended by representatives from domestic and international organizations, partners, and government agencies.

Under the framework of a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), both parties are committed to taking joint action to reduce environmental pollution through the collection and recycling of plastic waste, aiming to collect and recycle 30,000 tons of plastic waste, making a positive contribution to Vietnam’s sustainable development strategy.

After two years of implementation, the Plastic Collection & Recycling project has achieved significant milestones. To date, more than 15,000 tons of plastic waste have been sorted, collected, and recycled. In addition, the project has encouraged and supported 1,100 workers directly involved in collecting, sorting, and recycling plastic waste at over 20 collection sites, providing them with protective gear (such as uniforms, helmets, gloves) and personal and household hygiene products to improve working conditions and enhance their quality of life.

Alongside recycling efforts, the project also emphasizes community education and awareness programs. Several meaningful initiatives have been implemented, including Ho Chi Minh City’s Green Living Festival 2023–2024 and the Plastic Sorting Festival in District 7, helping raise public awareness about sorting plastic waste at the source and environmental protection responsibilities.

DUYTAN Recycling welcomes delegates from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for a visit aimed at eliminating plastic waste.

The delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) took a commemorative photo with the DUYTAN Recycling team in the main lobby. During the visit, the delegation was introduced to the international certifications the company has achieved, such as those from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), affirming the high quality and standards of its recycled plastic products. Additionally, the delegation toured the display area showcasing DUYTAN Recycling’s diverse recycled plastic products, ranging from rHDPE to rPET, demonstrating the company’s innovation and commitment to environmental protection.

The delegation was then taken to the raw material receiving area, where tightly compressed plastic bottle bales were neatly stacked, creating an impressive scene that showcased the scale and efficiency of DUYTAN Recycling’s raw material management. This is the first step in the recycling process, demonstrating the company’s professionalism and providing an overview of its comprehensive journey in plastic waste processing.

At the raw material area, a DUYTAN Recycling representative introduced the delegation to several key innovations in the company’s recycling process, such as using plastic straps instead of metal wires to secure the compressed plastic bottle bales. This change eliminates the risk of metal contamination in the final products, thereby enhancing the quality and purity of the recycled plastic pellets.

On February 8, 2025, DUYTAN Recycling, as the first company in the recycling industry to receive the Vietnam Value title, was invited to share its journey and contributions on the “Vietnam Value” program, broadcast weekly on VTV1 to honor outstanding businesses that elevate the brand value of Vietnam on the global stage.

The program began with remarkable statistics: Vietnam generates around 1.8 million tons of plastic waste annually, but only 27% is recycled. In this context, the recycling industry has become a key factor in advancing the circular economy.

Mr. Le Anh, Sustainability Development Director of DUYTAN Recycling, joined the program’s host to discuss the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) mechanism. He emphasized how EPR—a pivotal framework—helps the recycling sector grow sustainably and integrate deeper into the global value chain. He also highlighted the critical role of certified recycling businesses, officially recognized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in increasing collection and recycling responsibilities for packaging materials like plastic, paper, aluminum, and glass.

On November 4, 2024, in Hanoi, under the theme “Reaching Out to the Green Era,” DUYTAN Recycling proudly accepted the Vietnam National Brand title at the 9th National Brand Awards Ceremony. During the event, the Prime Minister of Vietnam attended and called upon the business community to collaborate in building a green, sustainable economy for the nation. This marked a significant milestone, recognizing DUYTAN Recycling’s relentless efforts and contributions to recycling and the circular economy.
