On January 14, 2025, DTR attended the “U.S.-Vietnam Getting to Net-Zero” seminar organized by the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. The seminar gathered representatives from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the U.S. Consulate, USAID, IFC, and many major enterprises. Key topics discussed included:
– Carbon Emission Management Support: The U.S. will provide resources and technology to help Vietnam measure and manage emissions effectively.
– Investment in Renewable Energy: USAID is investing $11 million to enhance the efficiency of renewable energy use in Ho Chi Minh City.
– Promoting Green Industrial Zones: Vietnam currently has 7 out of 400 industrial zones meeting ecological standards and over 500 green-certified buildings.
The seminar started with an opening speech by the U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, emphasizing the importance of global partnerships in addressing climate change and promoting sustainability goals.
A major highlight of the event was the in-depth discussions on the roadmap for sustainable industrial development. Experts, organizations, and major enterprises from both the U.S. and Vietnam shared their knowledge and experiences on how to accelerate the transition to a green economy.
The seminar concluded with a presentation by a representative from the U.S. Department of Commerce, introducing initiatives to support Vietnam’s transition to Net-Zero. These initiatives aim to foster cooperation and provide the necessary tools and resources to accelerate Vietnam’s environmental goals.
